Homemade Facial Masks, Cleansers and Scrubs:

The Basic Sugar Scrub for Ashy Skin:

  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp warm water

This scrub is really good because it exfoliates the skin rather than rips like skin(which salt would do).

What to do ?

  • Stir the sugar into the warm water so that it melts, make sure the granules are dissolved.
  • Apply to face, gently massage and rinse with warm water.

Soothing Honey Mask for Dry Skin (can be used up to 3 times a week):

  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar/or lemon juice

This mask heals, moisturizes and balances the skin.

What to do ?

  • Combine honey and apple cider vinegar or lemon juice.
  • Apply to a clean face and leave on for 20 minutes
  • Rinse with lukewarm water followed by a nice cool rinse.

Soothing Banana Mask For Oily Skin:

  • 1 Banana, preferably ripe
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 orange or lemon

What to do ?

  • Mix the banana and honey together
  • Add a few drops of juice from the orange or lemon
  • Apply to clean face for 15 minutes
  • Rinse with cool washcloth

Strawberry Acne Mask:

  • 1/4 cup of strawberries
  • 1/4 cup of sour cream or plain yogurt

Strawberries are a natural source of salicylic acid.

What to do ?

  • Mash the strawberries and then add the sour cream.
  • Apply to clean face for 10-15 minutes.
  • Rinse.

Kiwi Facial Cleanser(Makes One Application):

  • 1 kiwi
  • 2 tbsp plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp orange water
  • 1 tbsp apricot or almond oil
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp finely ground almonds
  • 2 drops orange essential oil

What to do ?

  • Puree kiwi in a food processor until liquid.
  • Add yogurt, orange water, almond or apricot oil and ground almonds.
  • Process till thick and cream like.
  • Add the orange essential oil and stir to mix.
  • Apply all over face and neck and massage gently.
  • Rinse.
